Desert Animal Adaptations for Kids | Los Angeles

How do animals survive in the hot, dry desert? Join us at the Los Angeles Public Library's John Muir Branch on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, from 4–5 p.m. for a fun, hands-on exploration of how desert animals adapt! We'll discover how animals like the Mojave desert tortoise stay cool, find food and water, and protect themselves from predators. Children will enjoy a reading from Tortoises on the Trail, explore the amazing ways desert wildlife survives, and create their own desert animal with special adaptations. We hope to see you there!
