Girl Scout Eco Friend and Eco Camper Program

Gisa will spend the evening with the Girl Scouts as they work toward their Eco Friend and Junior Eco Camper Badges and explore ways to care for the natural world around them.

The girls will read Tortoises on the Trail and talk about desert tortoises, where they live, what they need, and what we can do to help protect their habitat.

Then they’ll head outside with their sketchbooks for a short walk and some nature journaling. They’ll slow down and notice the plants, insects, animals, and other signs of wildlife around them. They can draw, write, label, or simply record what they notice. There’s no right or wrong way to journal. The goal is to stop, look closely, and remember what they see.

Along the way, we’ll talk about how simple things like where we walk, how loud we are, and what we leave behind can affect the living things around us.
