How It All Began

Neither David nor I initially aimed to become authors, even though he frequently suggested that I write a book. Writing is not my strong suit, and I never saw myself as an author. I love children’s picture books and have an extensive collection, and David is an avid listener of audiobooks and podcasts.

David, our daughter, and I love road trips to national parks! Each park is extraordinary, teaching us about important habitats, animals, and fascinating history from the past. During each park visit, I search for exclusive animal plushies and captivating books to bring back to my classroom.

We found the resilient pupfish during our camping trip to Death Valley in the fall of 2020! Their resilience in the desert amazed and inspired us. Learning about them made us realize how crucial it is to save them from extinction. When we couldn’t find any children’s books about the pupfish for my classroom, David suggested we write our own book about these fascinating creatures!

After two years, we proudly present the first book in our Bringing the National Parks to Life book series……Fish in the Desert: The Untold Story of the Death Valley Pupfish.

Oh, and by the way, our second manuscript is almost done!
