Outdoor Education for Teens: Teaching Leave No Trace and Love for Nature
This week, David had the privilege of working with a group of teens eager to learn about life outdoors. Together, they practiced setting up a tent, organizing a campsite, and understanding the importance of caring for nature. Through hands-on lessons about Leave No Trace, wildlife respect, and teamwork, David helped them see that every small action in the outdoors matters.
As the group worked side by side, David watched their confidence grow and their curiosity about nature deepen. They learned that protecting wild places begins with simple steps—cleaning up after themselves, treading lightly, and showing respect for the plants and animals that call these spaces home.
For David, teaching these skills is more than an outdoor activity. It is a way to nurture a lifelong love of nature and encourage young people to become thoughtful stewards of our national parks and natural spaces. These experiences build not just camping skills but also compassion, awareness, and a shared desire to keep our parks wild and thriving.
