The Joy of Holding Our Book’s Proof Copy

We didn't expect to get emotional seeing the proof copy of our book. This moment represented the culmination of months and years of diligent work and deeply rewarding collaboration with two crucial team members – Andy, our illustrator, and Sunny, our book designer. Surprisingly, this collaboration turned out to be our most cherished aspect of the entire journey. To our delight, the overall process was considerably smoother and more enjoyable than we had ever anticipated.

Nonetheless, the last few weeks of this journey posed more challenges. I obsessively scrutinized every detail, ensuring every comma or quotation mark was in the right place. There were days when it felt like I was discovering a new mistake each time I gazed at the book, which drove me crazy. Fortunately, our dear friend, Christine, came to the rescue with her final book edit. She identified crucial changes that enhanced the story's flow and comprehension while spotting some punctuation errors. Her invaluable assistance was a game-changer in ensuring the book's quality and clarity.

But despite the challenges of the last weeks, nothing could compare to the overwhelming joy we experienced when we finally held the proof copy of our book. The textures of the pages, the colors of the illustrations, and the feel of the cover - all came together to create a book that we were immensely proud of. Seeing our vision come to life on the pages of our book felt truly remarkable.

We now face the hard part of waiting for our book to be printed for sale, which will take 2-3 months.
