Join Us for “Shapes in Nature” with Girl Scouts Greater Los Angeles!

Mark your calendars, scouts and families. On August 9, I'll be joining Girl Scouts Greater Los Angeles for a special day exploring the shapes hiding in plain sight all around us in the natural world.

Here's the schedule:

  • 10:00 AM — Daisies

  • 12:00 PM — Brownies & Juniors

We'll go looking for the circles, spirals, triangles, and branching patterns that show up in nature.

Each session gets its own hands-on project. Our Daisies will head outside to create their own patterns in nature, building designs straight from what they find on the ground. Our Brownies and Juniors will dig into tessellations — how shapes like triangles and hexagons fit together with no gaps and no overlaps, just like the patterns found in honeycomb or pinecones — and then make their own tessellation art to take home.

Scouts will walk away with a few new ways to see their own backyards (or their next national park visit), and hopefully a little more curiosity about the shapes they'll start spotting everywhere once they know to look.

Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors are all welcome. Can't wait to see you there!

Details and registration through your local Girl Scouts Greater Los Angeles troop.
